The UW Psychology Department honors the memory of two remarkable faculty members who passed away in September.
Jim Sackett, Emeritus Professor, passed away on September 8th at the age of 80. He spent 32 years as an influential faculty member exploring primate models of child development and was an active teacher and mentor to many. He also served as Associate Director of the Human Development and Disability Center and was a core staff member of the Washington National Primate Research Center. View Jim’s obituary here.
Barbara Sarason, Emeritus Research Professor, passed away on September 19th at the age of 88. Barbara was a leader in the study of interpersonal relationships, a valued mentor to both undergraduate and graduate students, and a co-founder of an international organization concerned with the study of social ties. She received the Lifetime Contribution Award from the Washington State Psychological Association. View Barbara’s obituary here.
