Admissions
As detailed in the table below, the Department has been moderately successful in recruiting minority students. Minority students are found in almost all major areas of the department, although they are most numerous in clinical, child clinical, social, and cognitive psychology. But as documented below, there are many other highly qualified minority students we would like to recruit for the U.W.

The Department relies upon traditional criteria (e.g., GPA, GREs, letters, statement of purpose, etc.) in its evaluation of applicants. However, special consideration is made of students’ backgrounds and potentials. As a result, the students admitted to the Department have exhibited a wide range of performance on traditional criteria. We do consider special talents, aptitudes, and abilities, and make an effort to increase the proportion of diverse students.
